MPD announces winners in its annual cook-off

Michelle Vela, communications supervisor/records clerk for the Manvel Police Department, shared the results of the annual fund raising cook-off:

“We estimate about 300 to 400 people throughout the Manvel community and surrounding area came out to support us. There were close to 100 toys collected and over $500 raised for Toys for Tots. We raised over $10,000 this year to help support our Blue Santa and Toys For Tots program as well as our other charitable programs.”

Cooking teams had a great time participating in the competition and the following winning teams were announced and trophies presented:

Xtreme Cookers – 1st place Brisket; Family Thyme – 1st place Chili; Road Dogs – 1st place Ribs; Pumpin Smoke – 1st place dessert.

All Lit Up Cookers – 2nd place brisket; No BS About It – 2nd place Chili; Big Thursday’s – 2nd place ribs and 2nd place dessert.

All American – 3rd place chili and 3rd place ribs; Manvel In Laws and Out Laws – 3rd place brisket and 3rd place dessert.
