Greg Hill, former three-term Pearland City Council Member, is running in Brazoria County for a countywide position as Judge for County Court at Law No.1 and Probate Court. Former Councilman Hill is running as a Republican in the March 6, 2018 Republican Primary. If elected, Greg Hill will be the first judge from Pearland, in the history of Brazoria County, to ever represent the county, as a whole, as a county court at law and probate court judge. Hill said, “I am a proud Brazoria County resident, and proud of the people in it, for the ‘little big town’ feel, and spirit of service that you see from Pearland to Angleton and Lake Jackson, Danbury to Sweeny and West Colombia, and all along our coastal towns of Freeport, Surfside, and Quintana. I have served three terms on Pearland City Council, and served as the Mayor Pro-Tem for Pearland during part of that time, and now I look forward to serving Brazoria County, as a whole.”
Greg Hill is currently serving as the Associate Judge for the City of Alvin, the City Attorney for the City of Liverpool, and has a private legal practice where his office is in Pearland. County Court at Law No. 1 and Probate Court in Brazoria County is a general jurisdiction court, where cases are heard for the first time, as well as some on appeal. County Court at Law No. 1 has jurisdiction over adult criminal misdemeanor cases, civil cases up to $200,000, juvenile cases, probate and guardianship cases, family law cases, condemnation/eminent domain cases, and appeals from justice and municipal courts.
Hill said, “Serving in the political arena can be rewarding, and when done right, you can truly help people, and politics is simply a vehicle for that. I hope to continue to serve this county, and those in it, and set an example for our children and residents both today and into the future.” Early voting for the primary begins on February 20, 2018 with Election Day on March 6, 2018. The general election is on November 7, 2018.
