The 1st Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration of Unity was held in Pearland Jan. 13, from 3 – 7 p.m. at the Pearland Town Center Pavilion.
The event allowed the community to gather in fellowship to continue the recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is a way to honor his dream, inspire others to pursue their own dreams, and celebrate the unity of the communities.
The event featured cultural performances, live music, children’s activities, food, and speakers.
The event was hosted by the Pearland MLK Celebration Committee.
Pearland MLKCC was established in 2017 by a group of Brazoria County civic leaders who noticed the rapid multicultural growth of the area and wanted to create an event to celebrate the unity and diversity of northern Brazoria.
Pearland was chosen as the perfect location for the event since it is the largest city by population in the county.
The committee felt that MLK activities would enhance the city’s current list of events.
Pearland MLKCC is a Texas non-profit corporation.
