Doris Doyon Massicott, 78, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018. She was born September 11, 1939 to Delphis and Rachel Doyon in St. Ludger, P.Q. Canada.
Doris was the youngest of 9 children. Her family moved to the US when she was 15 years old. She learned English while at Bristol High School in Bristol, CT. and graduated in 1958. She married Andre Jean Massicott on June 20, 1959 in a double ceremony with her sister Fleurette Doyon who married Andre’s brother, Marcel Massicotte. Doris and Andre (Andy) lived throughout the New England area and in 1970, they made their way with six children in tow to Houston and settled in the Sagemont area.
Doris was an artist and loved to paint. She was an accomplished figure skater in her youth. She also loved sewing, gardening, cooking, walking and sailing…garage “sailing” that is. She had a wonderful sense of humor and often had a great joke to share. She and Andy were avid travelers who journeyed throughout Europe, Africa, Canada, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii and the rest of great USA. Doris had a servants heart and gave endlessly to her family, church and community.
Doris is survived by her sister Jackie, her sister Fleurette and brother in law Marcel, her brother in law Norm, her husband Andy and their oldest son Roger and his daughters Rachel and Allie; their son Louis and wife Donna and their daughters Erica and wife Hannah, Nora Trevino and husband Jason and their daughter Ella, Maegan Millet and husband Joshua and their daughter Andersyn; their only daughter Andrea and her children Gabrielle, Dominique and Andre; their son David and his wife Karin and their daughters Morgan and Audrey; their son Robert and his children Bryan and wife Ashley and their sons Holden and Hudson, Phillip, Brittini Haywood and her husband Justin and their children Kaelyn, Austin and Samuel, Jocelyn; and their youngest son James and his wife Lauretta and their daughters Emily and Amy.
Family and friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. with a memorial mass to follow at 10:00 A.M. and a reception after mass at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood, Dr. Friendswood, TX 77546 with Rev. James H. Kuczynski, M.S. officiating.
The family wishes to offer special thanks to the wonderful care givers at Absolute Hospice Inc. They provided compassionate care and love over the past several years.
