Mary Ruth (Marshall) Robison, 82, of Friendswood, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018. She was born on April 25, 1935 in Jasper, TX to parents Theodore and Mary (Scarborough) Marshall. Mary Ruth spent her childhood and adolescence in the quaint, close-knit community of Jasper, where her family was among the first settlers and founders. She was an avid socialite, talented baton twirler and rodeo enthusiast. After the birth of her children, Mary Ruth and her husband moved to Friendswood, a place she loved and was proud to raise her children in. She worked in the banking and medical fields for decades and was praised by her coworkers for her strong ethic and impressive interpersonal skills. Mary Ruth felt blessed to have many great friends in her life, both in Jasper and Friendswood and her lifelong friendships meant the world to her. She was one of the founding members of the Friendswood Investment Group (FIG) and continued her work and friendships with her FIG ladies for over 30 years. Her life was rich in love, faith, and joy.
All who knew Mary Ruth were enamored with her magnetic personality and her ability make strangers into friends instantly. She was a beautiful woman who always dressed fashionably and with her own flair. Mary Ruth was a gifted storyteller and her accounts were often adapted to her audience with flourish and precise detail. Not only was Mary Ruth stunning and delightful, she was a pillar of strength and wisdom for her family and friends. Her intelligence, sharp wit and keen sense of humor were matched only by her resilience and fierce independence. Mary Ruth had a strong faith in God and there is no doubt that He has welcomed her in to the Kingdom of Heaven, where she is sure to bring her joy, charm and colorful stories to any Angel who will listen. May she rest in peace.
Mary is survived by her three children, Robert Hilton and wife Kristi of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Terra Stringfellow of Genova, Italy, Holli Podlewski and husband Curtis of Friendswood, her Grandchildren Robyn Lein and husband Rob of Austin, Matthew and Lauren Podlewski of College Station and Noah Muniz of Midland Odessa. She also had one Great Grandchild, Mateo Lein, age 1 year. Mary Ruth was known for her warmth, strength, and resilience. She was a gifted storyteller, beloved matriarch, and devoted friend.
Mary Ruth will be honored by a service at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Friendswood Friends Church, 502 S. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546, with Pastor Tim Shoulders officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at City Cemetery, 1299 N. Main St., Jasper TX 75951. A reception will follow at the Belle Jim Hotel, 160 N. Austin St., Jasper, TX 77591.
