Take a talented well known performer, mix it with a way to help others in need and throw in fantastic auction items and the result is surely a success.
This is exactly what Lighthouse Charity Team did for their annual fundraiser held Jan. 27 and success was definitely the end result.
Ronnie Milsap was the headliner and as a country music singer and pianist along with Grammy winner and Music Hall of Fame recipient, he brought in a crowd.
“Milsap was amazing and his presence and music brought the best staying crowd to be in front of the stage that we have ever had,” gala planner and Team VP Scott Gordon said. “We also had rave revues of the food at the event.”
Lighthouse volunteers were active behind the scenes at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Pearland making and serving food to delight those attending the annual fundraiser.
The event grossed over $300,000.
Auction items were as in the past unique and desirable items that those who attended look forward to bidding on each year. With collectible anniversary firearms, trips inside and outside the country, Astros jerseys and a variety of much more, the top selling item this year was a back up generator purchased by Melissa DeMontrond.
Special awards were presented during the evening to team members who went above and beyond during Hurricane Harvey evacuations.
“It was a great night with great people coming together to help others,” Gordon said. “We work hard on the event all year and we look forward to spending time together for a great cause. Having Ronnie Milsap this year was really a special event.”
With the 2018 gala being history, Gordon began planning the 2019 gala on Monday, following the Saturday night event.
