Dunn Brothers Coffee in Friendswood is hosting a kickoff concert for the Texas Music Fest on Friday, March 2 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dunn Brothers is located at 201 S. Friendswood Drive.
Music artist Tommy Lewis will perform.
Lewis who is originally from Alvin is a nationally touring singer-songwriter, guitarist, producer, and author.
Lewis was raised in Alvin, learning jazz trumpet from Dick Ferking, piano from his mom, Barbara, and, according to Lewis, taste from his dad, Bill (who is director of athletics at ACC).
He taught himself to play guitar after moving to Iowa, became involved in the local scene, and eventually joined Rick Burke’s Traveling Music Show and Review in 2012.
His first book of haiku poetry, “Heart, Far From My Feet,” was released in spring of 2016.
His first full-length album, “Silver and Stone” was released October 2016.
In 2017, he joined Trio Live alongside songwriters Radney Foster, Travis Meadows, Eddie Heinzelman, Eric Erdman, Chad Elliott and many others with authors like Wiley Cash, Shari Smith and Rick Bragg to help produce works of music and art around books born of southern culture.
Upcoming projects include a planned live album, a second book of poetry, and a studio album featuring the DelRios, his country duo with sister Samantha, a singer-songwriter in her own right.
Currently, if not serving as lead guitarist for Chad Elliott, Lewis tours as a solo artist.
His latest single, “Salt Water Wine,” continues to climb American radio in Europe and in the U.K. and received airplay on stations all across the United States.
