Elberta Mae Berglund, age 84, passed away on February 16, 2018 in Cedar Park, Texas.

Berta was born on June 26, 1933 in Caldwell, Texas, to E. E. Alcorn and Callie Mae Louis Alcorn Purser. She was the eldest of four sisters. She worked as a telephone operator in Bryan, Texas where she met Billy, who was a student at Texas A&M. She married Billy P. Berglund on January 17, 1954 in Bryan. After graduation, she and Billy moved around the country following Billy’s career in the space program. Berta stayed at home to raise her three sons. The family eventually settled in Friendswood, Texas, in 1969. Soon after, Berta got a job and worked as a manager of a Houston area Slender Bolic health/gym facility. She later worked as a “cafeteria lady” at Friendswood schools. And even later, she worked as a teacher’s aide for special education students in the Clear Creek School District. Berta and Bill were long term members of the Friendswood United Methodist Church.

Berta is survived by three sons, Victor (Carol) Berglund, Keith (Joan) Berglund and David Berglund. She has six grandchildren, Daniel Berglund, Lauren Berglund, Joe (Dawn) Berglund, Michael Berglund, Katherine (Sean) Phillips, and William Berglund, and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Berglund and Gordon Berglund. She is also survived by two of her sisters, Mary E. Schumacher and Maxine Alcorn, and by several nieces and nephews, Cassandra McClellan, Cindy Meyer, Susan Bayer, and Brandon Schumacher. She was very close to her sister and brother-in-law Sybil and George Berglund.

Berta was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Billy Berglund, and her sister Gloria McClellan. Berta was Mom or Mrs. B. to everybody. She loved her family more than anything in the world. She had a sympathetic ear and a generous heart. She will be greatly missed.

The viewing and visitation with the family is at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598, on Friday, Feb 23rd, 6:30-8:00 pm.
