Pearland’s biggest annual literacy event will be held on March 22 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The Adult Reading Center expects to fill the room full of guests attending the upcoming luncheon – in 2017 more than 500 attendees in their pink and red hats, helped raise more than $72,000 for Adult Literacy, GED and Citizenship programs. Founded in 1987, The Adult Reading Center (ARC) is a local non-profit organization whose mission is to transform lives through education.
The Adult Reading Center is excited to announce Mrs. Dale Pillow as the Honorary Chair for this year’s luncheon. Dale is a founding member of the Adult Reading Center and has served as the President & CEO since 2001. She graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio with a B.A. degree majoring in English and minoring in Psychology. After 30 years of service, Dale has announced her retirement from the Center. You do not want to miss the “Hat of Surprises” we have in store!

The Adult Reading Center, the only professional community-based literacy provider in their service area that utilizes volunteer tutors to support its mission, is celebrating over 30 years of transforming lives through education. In the past years, the Center has provided free instruction to over 13,500 adults. Many of these individuals have difficulty functioning effectively in the community due to poor speaking, reading, or writing English skills.
The Adult Reading Center is an economic incubator and a complete service center using a comprehensive approach that will take adult learners from learning to read, write and speak English to obtaining a Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency and a job earning a living wage while becoming contributing members of our community.
