The Pearland City Council met March 5, in the Public Safety Building’s second floor training room at 2555 Cullen Parkway in Pearland.

The Council approved the Consent Agenda which included an ordinance to rename a portion of Brookside Road between Cullen Boulevard and Stone Road to McHard Road and to appoint Somarajan Nair to Position No. 1 on the Library Board along with the appointment of Paula Franklin to Position No. 4, both terms expiring Nov. 1, 2020.

In new business, the Council considered the resolution to authorize the Lower Kirby Pearland Management District to issue and sell bonds for certain water, sewer and drainage projects, the resolution awarding a bid for the construction of Fire Station No. 1 (Old Alvin Road at McHard Road), and the resolution to authorize the city Manager or his designee to enter into Master Services Agreement.

Also in discussion were a resolution to convey an easement to CenterPoint Energy for electrical service to serve the Fire Station No. 1 project, and a resolution to authorizing a contract with Joiner Architects for architectural design services, associated with Fire Station No. 8.

Following the executive session, the Council and Mayor provided comments on two additional areas of new business: one was regarding pending and potential litigation related to property acquisition, municipal boundary adjustments and environmental issues and the other was the annual evaluation of the City Manager.
