Betty Anne Simpson Fenn

Our beloved Mom, Betty Anne (Simpson) Fenn was born September 24, 1930, in Dunlap, Kansas, to Fred and Wilma (Marx) Simpson, and passed away on March 19, 2018, in Houston, Texas. The Simpson clan moved from Kansas to Western Oklahoma where Mom was raised. Her family of origin consisted of six children and their hard-working parents who survived the Great Depression, tornadoes, and many years of wheat harvest.
Mom grew up in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma, graduating Valedictorian of Cloud Chief High School in the spring of 1948. That fall, she began the study of Elementary Education at Southwestern State Teachers’ College and married Doyle Fenn, a marriage that would last 63 years until his death. Born of this marriage was a legacy of love for Christ, and our parents were active members of the United Methodist Church in every community where they resided. Mom also served as an elementary school teacher for 30 years, most of them for Deer Park Independent School District.
After retirement, Mom dedicated time to sewing, quilting, and spoiling her grandchildren. If they were in an event, she and Dad attended as their #1 fans. The grandkids, the reward for raising four kids, were all Mom and Dad’s favorites, and great memories were created of time spent playing in the backyard fort, “camping” in the Air Stream, nights spent at their home, reading books, and learning to make crafts. Mom also loved music and enjoyed teaching and playing the piano with her grands. From their grandmother, these eight grandchildren witnessed unconditional love first-hand. Our parents’ greatest joys were times spent with them.
Mom’s family, while we will miss her, realize “the pain that [we’ve] been feeling, can’t compare to the joy that’s coming” Romans 8:18. Left to cherish her memory are her children Larry Fenn (Kathie), Brenda Sanzone (Tom), Marlin Fenn (Kay Lynn), and Mark Fenn (Bonnie); grandchildren Maureen (Craig), Ronda, David (Katie), Laura (Kellen), Lindsey (Ryan), Katie (Jason), Stephen (Jessica), and Marilee (Terry); great grandchildren Camryn, Claire, Charlie, Weston, Ford, Wyatt, Millie, Brylee, Daisy, June, Joseph, George, Tatiana, Amelia, Daniel, Caleb, Brooke, Haylea, Ethan, Lucciano, Chloe, Weston, Wyatt, Kyle, Caroline, and Amos; siblings: Barbara Isbell, Darrell Simpson (Joy), Yvonne McManaman (Don), and Gwen Ware (Bob), Sister-in-law, June Fenn, and many precious nieces and nephews.
An eternal reunion is now occurring in Heaven as Mom reunites with her parents, her beloved husband, her brother Gene, brothers-in-law Glen and George, sisters-in-law Faye, Frances, and Joan. A special thank you is extended to her loving caretakers at Autumn Leaves-Clear Lake.
