The City Council approved the first of two readings amending an ordinance that would rezone a tract of land in Manvel at its recent meeting at City Hall.

The tract is adjacent to 7205 Pine St.

Several homes around the property were built before Manvel had the zoning laws with which to comply.

The rezoning request would allow the property to conform with these adjoining uses.

The planning and zoning commission also recommended council approve the landowner’s request to change the zoning from light commercial to open single family residential.

The City Council also recently appointed the following Manvel residents to fill Planning Development & Zoning Commission vacancies for the upcoming expiring terms. Those appointed included Dorothy Wynne, Debbie Harrison and Muhammed Alam.

The new members will be sworn in at the upcoming April PD&Z meeting.
