Brittany Harris, Friendswood High School student, hosted her annual Walk For Water April 8 in Stevenson Park in Friendswood to raise money for water wells in Africa. She had over 100 walkers and raised over $10,500 for clean water. Overall, this year she has raised over $34,000 which is enough for 5 water wells. She will be traveling to Africa this summer to drill the wells and be a part of the dedications in the villages. This has been Harris’ passion for many years and she has visited Africa before to assist with their dedications and installations. The idea originally came from two events in her young life: from a children’s concert she attended and was told that children too can make a difference and lessons in FISD about Martin Luther King Jr. and his dream for others.
