“White Linen Night” was the theme for this year’s Reverse Draw fundraiser by the Friendswood Rotary Club.
The event was held April 7 at Hope Lutheran Church in Friendswood.
Only 300 tickets were sold for a chance to win $10,000 in gold. The winner was Mike Foreman who had teamed up as four of the last men standing. Foreman, when he won, was to receive $5,000. He donated the full amount to the Rotary Foundation’s Flood Relief Fund.
Last year the winner, Brett Banfield, donated his entire winnings of $10k to charity as well.
Music for the event was provided by pianist Kirk Hale of Lone Star Pianos in Galveston. Food was catered by Brian Campbell of Buffalo Catering in Friendswood.
This year’s Rotary fundraiser was co-chaired by Trish Hanks and Sally Branson.
In addition to the $10k in gold, there was a wine pull, donated by Judy Wiggins & Meredith Levin and plants, donated by Lee’s Landscaping, for sale with all proceeds going back to Rotary.
Proceeds from this event fund charitable efforts in the local community, such as, the Rotary Pavilion in Stevenson Park, high school scholarships, Meals on Wheels, as well as other philanthropic projects on an International level, such as the Eradication of Polio.
Rotary’s Flood Relief Fund has raised more than $260,000 for Friendswood residents who were affected by Hurricane Harvey.
This is Friendswood Rotary’s 44th anniversary. This year’s president is Luis Briones, owner of Friendswood Frame and Gallery.
