On April 15th, 2018 the sun shined a little brighter, the stars sparkled more and the choir of angels sang joyous songs as Pauline Joyce McElroy Pry, 94, of Friendswood, TX, left this world and joined her Lord and Savior and the love of her life, Jack, in heaven.
She was born October 20, 1923 to Richard B. McElroy and Nancy A. Crumpton McElroy in Jasper, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Jack S. Pry, and 2 daughters, Joyce Pry Thessing and Patricia Pry Ludlam. She is survived by her youngest daughter, Nancy Pry Sandhop (husband Fred) of League City. She had 11 grandchildren (Patrick Thessing, Melinda DuBois, Jeanine Salzman, Wendy Zacchio (husband Gary), Sarah Avina (husband Jason), Molly Pillow, Rebecca Williams (husband Mark), Matt Ludlam, Corey Seymour, Eric Seymour (wife Sara) and Ty Seymour (wife Amanda) and 21 great-grandchildren (Josh, Eric, Parker, Casey, Straissley, Alyssa, Sidney, Ainsley, Grayson, Zachery, Isaac, Micah, Jonathon, Ahnry, Cruz, Adam, Jakob, Wesley, Keegan, Liam and Tristan) and 1 great-great grandchild (Viggo).
Polly was an active member of Sagemont Baptist Church, had a fabulous group of friends both young and old. She had been a member of Park Place Eastern Star, served as Worthy Matron when her children were involved in Rainbow Girls. Played scrabble online and prior to computers, for years with friends. She was known for her Chocolate cake, biscuits and chocolate syrup and numerous other edible delights!
If you asked her what her greatest joy was, it was spending time with her family, and her grandchildren enjoyed the special treatment that each one received. Each one always felt they were her “most special”. She kept a close relationship with her nieces and nephews; she loved them as her own. She gathered friends the way most people gather flowers and those friendships lasted for years!
There are a few friends who we would like to thank for the days, weeks, months, years and/or decades of friendship and care: Cathey Mossiman, Renee Tawil, Shirley Carpenter, Norma Lee Olson, Maria and Juan Ham. Each of you played such an integral part in Mom’s life, especially these past few months.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr, Friendswood, TX 77546, (281) 992-7200.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be great to American Ex-POW Association, Alzheimers Association, American Cancer Society, Sagemont Church Library, or any charity of your choice.
