Pearland to have runoff election for Council seat

The City of Pearland had a general election as well as PISD School Board election May 5.

Pearland will have a runoff election for Position 4 for City Council.

Pearland business owners Adrian Hernandez and Dalia Kasseb will face each other in a runoff election after neither received 50 percent of votes in the city’s general election.

In the election, Hernandez received 3,372 votes. Kasseb received 2,679. G. C. Sonny Atkins received 1,103 votes.

Kasseb ran against Wood Owens in a runoff election and lost for Position 7 in 2017.

In other election news, incumbent Derrick Reed ran unopposed for Position 2. He received 5,732 votes.

Results are not official until they are canvassed at a special city council meeting on May 14.

In the Pearland ISD election, Board members in Position 3 and 4 were up for election.

Crystal Carbone won over Al Floyd. Carbone received 4,356 votes to Floyd’s 1,781 votes.

Sean P. Murphy won over Daniel Hernandez. Murphy received 3,907 votes to Hernandez’s 2,220 votes.
