A Night of Culture and Cuisine will be held for the second time Friday, May 25 from 6:30 – 10 p.m. at Centennial Park in the Evelyn B. Newman Amphitheater in Friendswood. This second annual event is hosted by the Friendswood Contemporary Ballet, Friends of Downtown Friendswood and Friendswood High School Symphonic Band.
This year’s event features “A Taste of the Town” from local restaurants including Brasserie 1895, Rise Cupcakes, Birra Poretti’s, Gina’s Italian Kitchen & Pizzeria and more.
The Friendswood High School’s Wind Ensemble will perform followed by an original ballet, “Into the Journey,” presented by Friendswood Contemporary Ballet.
The original ballet will be featuring former principals with the Texas Ballet Theater, Shannon and Christa Beacham. Shannon has over 20 years of professional dance experience having performed in many ballets including George Balanchine’s “Four Temperaments,” “Serenade,” and “Slaughter on Tenth Avenue.” He is also an accomplished choreographer and dance instructor.
Christa Beacham is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance and was a company member of the Texas Ballet Theater until 2007. Christa continues as a principal guest artist, and performs alongside her husband, Shannon, at a variety of venues.
“We loved doing this last year and are excited we are able to collaborate on this project again,” Friendswood Contemporary Ballet Artistic Director Nicole Mueller said. “The caliber of art presented during this event really makes me proud of what our city is doing to educated and train our emerging artists.”
Tickets come in three types. VIP tickets are $30 which includes the pre-show tasting event, reserved seating, and a drink ticket for post show, Standard Tickets are $20 and include the pre show Tasting Event and general lawn seating, or free admission to enjoy the performance only in general lawn seating.
