Three upcoming meetings are planned for additional input for ideas that will enhance the Downtown area of Friendswood. Lauren Griffith and Associates, a landscape architectural firm in Houston, have planned the dates for the meetings to occur as they work to formulate a plan.

The group will host meetings on Thursdays, June 7, July 26, and Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. at Friendswood City Hall. Business owners, organization members, residents and any interested community member are invited.

Partnering with the firm to host the meetings are the Friendswood Downtown Economic Development Corporation who hired the firm to conduct the study and prepare a plan proposing and prioritizing improvements to the Downtown District.

Each meeting will include a discussion regarding progress on the Downtown District Improvement Plan, resident’s feedback regarding future downtown improvement projects, a summary of the responses to the downtown survey, and comments from stakeholders’ meetings.

Lauren Griffith has held several stakeholder meetings with members of nonprofit groups in town and conducted an online survey for residents to take.

In the survey, people who responded want more walkable development and destinations, better pedestrian accommodations, better pedestrian crossings, more trees, security lighting, underground utility wiring, and more dining and retail options.

The final three meetings will be held to collect additional data.

City Hall is located at 910 S. Friendswood Drive.
