A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fire Station #1 is planned for Thursday, June 14 at 9:30 a.m. at the construction site.
The City of Pearland Fire Department and City officials will be in attendance.
The groundbreaking will take place at the corner of Old Alvin and McHard Roads.
Parking will be available at the Learning Experience, located at 3547 McHard Rd.
The relocation and construction of Fire Station #1 will replace the existing Fire Station #1 that has served the City of Pearland for 48 years but is beyond its service life. The new location will better accommodate 24-hour operations and improve response times in the area, according to city officials.
The equipment area will consist of three-60 foot deep drive-thru apparatus bays, a bunker gear storage area, medical supply storage, and an EMS decontamination area.
To support firefighter wellness and health, the station will have separation areas with one for duty items and equipment and another for clean living spaces along with decontamination showers.
The new station will house one four-person engine crew and one two-person ambulance crew in an area of approximately 10,300 square feet. The building will include sleeping rooms, restrooms with showers, a kitchen dining area, a dayroom, a Lieutenant office, a station command office, and exercise room.
The new station has in its design work the area to be able to add two 60 foot deep apparatus bays at a future time.
