A First Responders Appreciation tailgate party was held June 22 for Fire, Police and EMS members in Friendswood. The tailgate was hosted by Associated Credit Union of Texas (ACU of Texas) in Friendswood.

Two ACU of Texas interns for the summer cooked hamburgers, sausage, and boudin while ACU staff greeted the guests and visited with them during lunch. Andrew Gutierrez is the high school intern and will be a junior in the fall at Pearland High School. Will Gutierrez is the college intern and is attending Texas A&M in College Station.

The two, who are not related, are part of a summer intern program that has them shadowing the many areas of work at ACU of Texas.

The tailgate event was held in the parking lot of the Friendswood Police Station. Tents for shade with picnic tables were set up for guests and to-go lunches were also available.

ACU of Texas serves Galveston and Brazoria Counties, as well as Cypress and Brenham.

It is located at 3135 FM 528 in Friendswood.

“We typically have a First Responders Appreciation event once per month in different communities we serve,” Marketing VP Tony Sims said.
