The finance department were recognized at the July council meeting with a special Budget Award.

The City of Friendswood has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the Fiscal Year 2017-18 budget. The presentation was made at the July meeting of the city council.

The award recognizes the governing body and staff having met the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To be given the award, the City had to meet nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. Budget documents must be rated proficient by serving as 1) a policy document, 2) a financial plan, 3) an operations guide and 4) a communications device.

The work of the following City employees was recognized at the meeting: Director of Administrative Services Katina Hampton, Deputy Director of Administrative Services in Finance Rhonda Bloskas, and Budget Manager Jennifer Walker. The Budget Team, Accounting staff, and the Administrative Services Department were also recognized for their efforts.

The City has received this award for 15 consecutive years. The city’s received Operations Guide Special Performance Measures Recognition for the first time.

Allena Portis, Finance Director for the City of League City and Secretary of the Gulf Coast Government Finance Officers Association presented the award.
