Flood alerts available for residents

July 4 was a rainy day and parts of Pearland reported receiving three inches of rain in less than three hours. Because flooding can happen quickly, Pearland residents are reminded to be prepared by getting precise weather information quickly.

Map and rainfall data can be seen at www.harriscountyfws.org.

To be prepared for any storm related emergency, go to www.pearlandtx.gov/stormready. At this site one can find a map and other emergency preparedness materials.

The Flood Warning System map is managed by Harris County Flood Control District. The district has data from as far back as the late 1980s and as current as the last 15 minutes. The website is www.bdd4.org.

At the site, under gages by agency click on a specific gage to get a more detailed rainfall report in Pearland.
