Lillian Jaresh Ohmart McKinley, 99, of Friendswood, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018. Lillian was born on September 1, 1918 in Yoakum, TX to Annie and Anton Jaresh. She grew up in Yoakum and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School after which she moved to Houston to live with her two older sisters and worked as a secretary. She met and married her first husband, Paul E. Ohmart when he returned from service in WWII. They raised their two children and ran Ohmart Realty together. Paul died in 1967. In 1968, she married Marion C. McKinley and moved to Humble to be welcomed into his large family. After his death in 1994 she moved to Friendswood to be closer to her daughter and grandsons, the loves of her life. At age 92, she decided to quit driving and living alone and moved in with her daughter and son in law Joseph Oddo, who did a wonderful job of caring for her until her death.
Lillian was preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, Paul E. Ohmart and her second husband Marion C. McKinley, her two sisters, Antoinette Barr and Margaret Skinner and her stepson Jerry McKinley.
She is survived by her son, Jim Ohmart and wife Eileen Hatcher, daughter Paula Oddo and husband Joseph Oddo, and her three grandchildren, Paul, Christopher and Alex Oddo and Alex’s wife Amita. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Patricia Voekel, and stepdaughter in law Paula McKinley, and numerous other relatives.
Lillian touched many lives throughout her years of volunteering in the Catholic Church, the Memorial Hospitals (Northeast and Southeast) and St Peters Elementary and Mt Carmel High school in Houston. She enjoyed her trips to Louisiana and made many friends in the senior clubs she belonged to. She loved to cook, help others and please people. Lillian was a breast cancer survivor. She had a good heart and we were lucky to have her in our lives for so long.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Mary Queen Catholic Church Chapel, 606 Cedarwood Drive, Friendswood, TX 77546 with Rev. Sibi Kunninu, M.S. officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
