Construction is continuing on the new John Hargrove Environmental Complex. The new building is located on Magnolia Parkway next to Keep Pearland Beautiful and the recycling center.

The new complex will provide space for meetings, classes, and support around the nature center, storm water detention area and walking trails.

Work on a water main at the SE Quadrant of Old Townsite’s Drainage Improvement project had repair work completed while most residents in the city were asleep. Since the existing waterline had to be shutdown for the work to take place, public works crews words during hours when less water is used which would be between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.

A 20-inch waterline offset was installed to make it possible for reinforced concrete boxes for the new storm sewer could be installed.

The existing waterline was in conflict with the new storm sewer, according to city officials and the new offset would clear the new storm sewer.

A traffic alert was sent to residents recently to let them know that beginning August 8 the north and southbound traffic on Max Road is being rerouted to the east side of the road from Hughes Ranch Road to Avalon Manor. Length of time for the rerouting is expected to be approximately 75 days.

The west side of Max Road remains open and the speed limit has been set at 30 miles per hour within the construction zone.

Another area of town has a closure.

A portion of the left lane of Pearland Parkway near Wheatfield Blvd. has been closed to complete a median cut for a left turn bay at the south entrance into Independence Park. Approximately 1,000 linear feet of the lane will be closed until 3 p.m. on Aug. 13. Minor delays for drivers are expected in the area.
