An official interlocal agreement between the City of Pearland, Brazoria County and Brazoria County Toll Road Authority (BCTRA) is accelerating the SH 288 Northbound Frontage Road project to have an earlier start by 5 to 6 years.

Recently, city council approved the agreement that would add the road project to the Brazoria County’s SH 288 Toll Lane Project.

The City of Pearland will be responsible for the design of the road, construction costs, associated drainage improvements and permitting by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

Brazoria County, as part of the agreement, will contribute $1.5 million to the project, while BCTRA is required to add the project to their SH 288 Toll Lane Project via Change Order, according to city officials.

The SH 288 road project extends from CR 59 to FM 518 to provide safety improvements and mobility in the SH 288 corridor including the SH 288 intersections at CR 59 and FM 518.
