Barry Hunter Banks was born to Carl W. and Murlyne “Murl” Wheeler Banks in Texas City, Texas on April 5, 1952. He passed away on August 28, 2018 in League City, Texas at the age of 66.
Barry attended Texas City Schools and graduated from Shelby High School in Shelby, North Carolina. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University. He was a long time employee of Shell Oil Company and Kroger Stores.
He is survived by his son, Zachary Banks and wife, Jessica “Jessie” Garcia Banks, his mother, Murlyne “Murl” Banks, brother, Gary Banks and wife, Anne Arnold Banks, granddaughters, Casslyn “Cassie” and Lillian “Lily” Banks, London Guzman, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Barry was preceded in death by his father, Carl W. Banks.
Barry was very proud of his three granddaughters and loved talking about them and showing off photos of them. He was a great help to his mother, taking her to church on Sunday and to have her hair done every Wednesday morning and grocery shopping for her afterward.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Friendswood United Methodist Church, 110 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 in the Wesley Hall at 10 A.M. with Rev. Rosemary Dubois officiating. A reception will follow in the same location.
For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Friendswood United Methodist Church for the Building Fund, 110 North Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas 77546.
