Permit statistics for the month of August, were released recently by the City’s Community Development and Finance Department. License and Permit revenue had increased by 60 percent over the previous month and 79 cent over the same time last year.
City officials report this was due to a new senior living facility that is being built in Pearland.

As the City of Pearland approaches a new fiscal year, budget discussions are occurring. All materials are available online, including a quick overview to highlight some of the most common conversation points.

The City’s Parks and Recreation Department reports that the Recreation Center and Natatorium just had its 8th birthday, So far this year the facility has welcomed members over 91,000 times, introduced over 11,000 visitors to the facility and instructed almost 900 hours in lessons.
In celebration of the birthday, the Parks Department has extended their Bakers Dozen and Lucky 7 membership specials through Sunday, Sept. 16. Residents can purchase 6 or 12 months of membership, pay no joining fee, and receive a free month of membership.
The Knapp Activity Center is hosting a Bingo Extravaganza, Wednesday, Sept. 26 for ages 50+. Residents can register now to reserve a seat by calling 281-652-1890 or visiting pearlandparks.com. The event begins at 10 a.m. and will be $2 for three cards.
