Veterans invited to program, lunch at AHS

Veterans in the Alvin-Manvel area are invited to Alvin High School’s Annual Veteran’s Day Program Monday, Nov. 12, from 10 to 11 a.m. The event will take place in the AHS auditorium.

Special Guest will be Gunnery Sergeant Stacie Crowther. Gunnery Sergeant Crowther is the US Marine Corps’ first female Assistant Drum Major in the history of “The President’s Own.” “The President’s Own” is the United States Marine Band.

The band’s mission is to perform for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Founded in 1798 by an Act of Congress, the Marine Band is America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization.

She is also a 1999 graduate of Alvin High School.

A BBQ lunch will follow from noon to 2 p.m.

Alvin High School Auditorium is located at 802 South Johnson St. in Alvin.
