Tour de Lites to celebrate 25 years

The 25th annual Tour de Lites Family Bike Ride will be Saturday, Dec. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. The event is hosted by Keep Pearland Beautiful, and participants enjoy a 1.5 hour evening recreational bike ride to view Christmas lights.

A hayride will be available for those who cannot ride a bicycle. This opportunity is limited to the first 60 who preregister for the hayride.

Pre-registration fee for the ride is $15 for the first family member and $5 for each additional family member. Register online at On-site registration will be $25 for first member and $5 for each additional family member. Children 5 and under can participate for free.

The fee includes one ride tee-shirt per family, a ride packet, route map, ride and refreshments. Additional tee-shirts are available at $10 each. All children age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult, with no more than three children per adult.

All bike riders must wear a helmet for the event.

Hot chocolate and cookies will be available for riders after the ride is completed.

The ride will begin at Shadycrest Elementary school and continue through the Green Tee Subdivision.

A bike decoration contest for the best decorated bicycles and/or rider will be held. Trophies will be awarded for first place in adult and youth categories with ribbons for second place. All contestants must check-in by 6 p.m.

All proceeds from Tour de Lites will be used for Hike and Bike Trails in Pearland.

No rain date will be set and no refunds will be available, according to KPB.
