A Holiday Open House and Pearland’s First Art Walk was held recently at the Alliance for Art and Culture in Pearland.
The festive event was hosted by the Alliance and the Pearland Historical Society.
Mayor Tom Reid presented his State of the Arts address in celebration of the Alliance’s one year anniversary at 2341 North Galveston Avenue, Suite 200 in Pearland.
The open house showcased a new exhibit in the PAA&C Gallery, the work of local artist Vicky Gooch. Gooch’s show is “The Glass Fortress: A Study of Life in Urban Landscapes.”
Gooch had on display her collection of 22 original oil paintings, limited editions Giclee prints and her book, “The Glass Fortress.” The book has images of 26 paintings along with her process and thoughts behind many of the paintings in the series.
“Mayor Tom Reid agreed to autograph the first 20 prints sold and I am donating 30 percent of all proceeds to the Pearland Alliance for Art and Culture to support their goal of bringing more art and culture into our community,” Gooch said.
Anyone can view the collection during regular open hours of PAA&C or by calling PAA&C at 83674-0722 or Gooch at 832-457-9621. Gooch’s work can also be viewed at www.VickyGooch.com. PAA&C operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.
