The Keep Friendswood Beautiful Tree Giveaway event will be Saturday, Jan. 26 from 8 to 10 a.m. at City Hall in Friendswood. Originally set for Jan. 19, the giveaway was moved to its new date due to expected inclement weather.

The giveaway is hosted by KFB along with the City of Friendswood and the Parks and Recreation Department.

Only Friendswood residents are eligible to receive a tree.To get a free tree, residents will need to show a water bill or driver’s license. The giveaway is handled in a first come, first served method and no trees will be held nor is delivery provided.

The trees to be given this year include Chinese Fringe, Live Oak, Kay Parris Magnolia, and Drummond Maple. The selections are based on trees that were suitable for the area. More than 100 trees will be given to residents, one per family.

The trees are in 15 gallon containers and those receiving trees must provide their own transportation. While waiting in line, a speaker will discuss how to plant the trees.

The mission of Keep Friendswood Beautiful (KFB) is to enhance the aesthetic appearance of the city and to encourage residents to take an active role in maintaining its image.

City Hall is located at 910 S. Friendswood Drive.
