Manvel City Council members cancelled their May 4 general election and declared the two candidates running unopposed to be elected by acclamation. This took place at a City Council Special Called Meeting Feb. 27 at City Hall.
Candidates include Daniel William Davis Jr. in Council Position 4 and incumbent Jerome Hudson in Council Position 6.
Davis is new to council.
He and his wife and their two children live in Manvel.
“I think he will bring a youthful approach, respect for others’ opinions, and an inquisitive mind to the table,” Mayor Debra Davison said. “He is about serving the citizens well and is learning all that he can before he is sworn in. He wants to be as informed as he can be as a person new to city government. I feel that we will benefit by him taking a seat.”
The two will be sworn in at a later date.
