Pearland to have first half-marathon

The Inaugural Pearland Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, March 24.  Runners and walkers from the city, area, Houston and many surrounding counties, will be part of the event.

The Pearland Half Marathon will start and finish at Pearland High School at 3775 S. Main St. and the course will run through Pearland, with a special loop around the trail at John Hargrove Environmental Complex. Runners may opt to do the 10K race.

Spectators will line the course, to cheer on their family and friends. Hydration stations, stocked with water and electrolytes, will be at approximately every mile.

All half marathon and 10K participants will receive a commemorative participant shirt and finisher medal. Cost for the 10K portion is $45 with $75 for the half marathon.

The half marathon will start at 7 a.m. with the 10K starting at 7:15 a.m. Awards presentation will be at 9 a.m. with the after party at Bakfish Brewery at 10 a.m. Bakfish Brewery is located at 1231 Broadway St.
