Tickets and underwriting opportunities are available now for the upcoming Friendswood Rotary Reverse Draw.

Rotary is celebrating its 44th anniversary at the annual event April 6 at Hope Lutheran Church Gym. A social hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. The reverse draw will start at 8 p.m.

Reverse Draw is the organization’s primary fundraiser. Only 300 tickets are sold for a chance to win $10,000 in gold. Door prizes are also given throughout the night.

Tickets are $125 each which includes a meal or $100 each for chances to win. Tickets are available at the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce or from any Rotarian member.

Rotarians Sally Branson and Trish Hanks are chairing the event and have announced this year’s theme as “People of Action.” Dress attire is white linen. Music will be provided by pianist Kirk Hale of Lone Star Pianos in Galveston. Local Chef Brian Campbell of Buffalo Catering will provide dinner.

Proceeds from this event fund charitable efforts in the Friendswood community, such as, the Rotary Pavilion in Stevenson Park, scholarships to local high school students, and Meals on Wheels.

Families in this area, affected by Hurricane Harvey, received over $170,000 this past year from Rotary. In the fall of 2018, Rotary co-hosted the first annual and very successful Rotary Regatta on Clear Creek. Rotary awarded $5,000 to the City of Friendswood to enhance 1776 Park and bring awareness to Clear Creek as an important watershed and recreational paddle trail.

In addition to these major endeavors, Rotary continued to sponsor foreign exchange students, donated money to purchase library books for local elementary schools, funded scholarships to local high school students, and internationally, supported for many years the eradication of polio and efforts to provide safe drinking water to underdeveloped countries.

“Friendswood Rotarians strive to build goodwill, better friendships, and engage in activities beneficial to others,” President Monireh Moghaddam said. “We are a people of action and consider it a privilege to be in a position to help those in need.”
