Spring cleaning has a deadline date for city residents regarding disposal. Save the date Saturday, April 13 for Keep Friendswood Beautiful’s Spring Sparkle.
The recycling event will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Centennial Park in Friendswood.
Paper shredding will be from 8 a.m. to noon with a 200-pound limit.
Spring Sparkle does not accept hazardous waste. All attending will need ID available for proof of residency.
New this year will be a Simple Recycling section that will accept clothing, shoes, jewelry, toys, sleeping bags, pots/pans, blankets, tools, bags, drapes/curtains, silverware, coats/jackets, hats, pillows, bedding and dishes. Simple Recycling has begun in the city on trash pick up days and residents have received orange bags for the items. During Spring Sparkle, residents can drop them off at the park.
Electronic recycling is also new this year. KFB volunteers will be accepting computers, laptops, power cords, UPS, cell phones, monitors, hubs, printers, cables, cable boxes, servers, ink jet/toner cartridges, keyboards, switches, television sets not over 36,” fax machines, and telephones.
Clean up items accepted include tree limbs, grass clippings, old appliances, old furniture, unwanted wood, metal and plastic.
Garage sale items accepted include furniture, household items, and bikes. All proceeds from the garage sale will benefit the beautification of city facilities and parks.
Aquariums, dog and cat carriers, clean rags and shallow crock bowls can be donated through Spring Sparkle for wildlife rehabilitation.
