First readings for annexation, rezoning held by council

The Pearland City Council met April 8 at Council Chambers at 3519 Liberty Drive for their regularly scheduled meeting.

In new business, council heard the first reading of Ordinance No. 1573 extending the city limits to include certain land area within certain limits and boundaries and annexing to the city the area within. The area would be approximately 13.0904 acres located at 7409 Bailey Road.

The first reading of Ordinance No. 2000M-183 was also given amending Ordinance No. 2000M, the zoning map of the city to change the classification of a 3.1988 acre tract at 7409 Bailey Road. Approval would mean a zone change from interim zoning classification of Suburban Development (SD) Zoning District to Neighborhood Service (NS) Zoning District.

A first reading of Ordinance No. 2000M-181 was given amending the zoning map to change a 22.86 acre trace of land on the southwest corner of North Main Street and Rice Drier Road to approve the amendment to the Rice Drier Commerce Park Planned Development District regulations regarding the minimum building size.

Council heard the first reading of Ordinance No. 2000M-182 for approval of an amendment to the Kingsley & Broadway Planned Development District on 3100 block of Kingsley Drive. The purpose is to accommodate the development of professional condominiums consisting of single-story buildings totaling 102,900 sq. feet in the southern portion of the district.
