Six private homes in Friendswood will share ideas for creative landscapes and showcase gardens in the Heritage Gardener Spring Garden Tour Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28.

Mike and Janet Wegner will have their 4.55 acre home on the tour off Sunset Drive. The theme, “Tuscan Gardens,” reveals its Italian landscaping motif and offers spring color over an expansive front and backyard.

“Colors of Summer” will be offered at the home of Tracey Wyatt in The Forest of Friendswood. Her creative design in landscaping will offer ideas for visitors with similar yard size.

Wayne and Margaret Brueggeman love to spend time living outdoors and their backyard shows this in The Forest. “Outdoor Living” is their theme and visitors to this home will enjoy seeing an outdoor kitchen and retreat where owners enjoy a backyard living, dining area.

The home of Mike and Michelle Thompson is a “Coastal Retreat” in The Forest. Those on the tour will enjoy the tropical planting as well as the gardens all inspired by Michelle who is a Galveston County Master Gardener.

Shawn and Meera Desai have a “Mediterranean Retreat” in West Ranch. Their over the top pool and landscaping will delight tourgoers.

“Colors for All Seasons” is the theme for Roger and Brenda Erfurdt in Eagles Lake. Both front and backyards will have visitors wanting to put spring color in their own yards to welcome the new season.

The tour begins at the Marie Workman Garden Center and Briscoe Garden at 112 W. Spreading Oaks in Friendswood. Many activities will be at this location.

A large plant sale by Heritage Gardeners will be underway. Yard art and signs will also be sold.

Vendors will be open both days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Garden art, artisan creations, jewelry, honey and bee houses, dog treats and more will be on sale.

In the Briscoe Gardens, four presentations/demonstrations will be given during the two days.

Orchids will be discussed on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., Pollinator Gardens will be at 11:30 a.m. and Gardening with Native Plants at 12:30 p.m. On Sunday, a presentation on Hummingbirds will take place at 2 p.m. The presentations are free.

Inside the garden center, visitors can view the 2019 Heritage Gardener Flower Show. Entries and ribbons will be on view inside. Admission is free.

Home tour tickets are $15 and are available now at the chamber and various businesses in town. They also will be available the days of the tour. Children 10 and under are free.

Businesses with tickets include the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce, The Cake Lady, Friendswood Frame and Gallery, La Casita Restaurant, Lary’s Florist and Design, Marrone Market, Phoenix Cleaners, Rancho Mexican Restaurant and Two Friends Gifts.
