
The annual Friendswood Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m., at the Veteran’s Memorial, next to City Hall (910 S. Friendswood Drive).
Sergeant Marty Gonzales, United States Marine Corps (retired) is this year’s special speaker. He has been awarded the Bronze Star twice (recognizing heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone) and the Purple Heart (awarded to members of the armed forces who are wounded) three times.
The ceremony will again include patriotic music, a tribute to each branch of the military, and immediately following the ceremony, a group photograph of Friendswood military veterans and active duty personnel.
