It is finally happening in Manvel. The city is getting its own grocery store.
Representatives from HEB asked for and received a variance from the City Council at the recent Council meeting May 20,
With Council approval, the HEB representatives reported they can begin the store development in Manvel.
The HEB is planned to be an 80,000 square foot grocery store.
During the last 3.5 years, HEB representatives said they have been looking quietly at the community as they mulled their decision, city officials reported.
HEB and the developer presented City Council with a timeline of their construction. If all goes as planned, they project 27 months to completion and a grand opening.
They also told City Council they are ready to sign a lease to move into the proposed Manvel Town Center. The grocery store and developer will install $19 million of infrastructure before they begin construction.
