Pearland Council of PTAs’ Swap Shop Community Closet is open on select days for school clothing exchanges.

Created to offset the cost of buying school clothes by allowing parents to trade in their children’s outgrown school clothes, the shop will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Through the year, it will be open from 5 to 7 p.m. on the following dates: Sept. 17, Oct. 8, Nov. 12, Dec. 10, Jan. 14, Feb. 11, March 17, April 14 and May 12.

The Swap Shop is in the brown building behind Pearland Junior High West and across from PACE Center, 2314 Old Alvin Road. Enter from Old Alvin Road and turn in the driveway leading to PACE. The building is straight ahead.

Clothing exchanged or donated cannot have ink/marker/pencil marks, missing buttons, tears or other flaws. Donations of lunch kits, backpacks and new or gently-worn shoes are also welcome.

A voucher program allows families in need to get donated items without exchanging. For clothing vouchers, contact a school nurse, counselor or principal. Vouchers must be signed in fresh ink. The Swap Shop always needs volunteers. For more information, contact [email protected].
