“Pride of Pearland” Marching Band has accepted the invitation to march in the 131st Annual Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California on January 1, 2020.

The Pearland band was selected as one of only 19 bands to be invited.

Only nine high school bands from the U.S. were included in the Rose Bowl Parade and the Pride of Pearland will be the only band from Texas to march in the parade.

The Pearland Band is raising money now to perform in the parade.

The community is starting to help the band fund their trip to California. Currently, Heritage Bank is donating $50 to the band for every checking account opened between now and October 20, 2019. New account individuals need to mention they are at Heritage Bank to support the band.

. President of the Tournament of Roses, Linda Farber visited the  Pearland band in May. While in Pearland, Farber visited with Mayor Tom Reid, toured Lonza’s facility in the Lower Kirby District and was shown areas of Pearland impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

The City of Pearland and Pearland Economic Development Corporation assisted Farber with her visit.

Farber told the Pearland band that the selection committee had received hundreds of marching band submissions from around the world and the Pearland band was selected as one of only 19 to receive the invitation.
