Although the Brazoria County Fair doesn’t officially begin until October 11, there are many activities happening that lead up the major fundraiser event.
Open 5D Barrel Race is Saturday, September 28 in the Rodeo Arena.
The Youth Horse Show is also in the Arena Sunday, September 29.
Rodeo Queen Contest is October 4 and the Student Art Exhibit is October 5.
The World Class Sanctioned by International Bar-B-Que Cookers Association (IBCA) Barbecue Cook-Off Contest is October 5 as well as the Kids Cookoff at the fairgrounds.
Also on October 5, a photographic art exhibit and needle work exhibit will open in the Hall of Exhibits.
In the Entertainment Hall on October 5, the Adult Fine Arts exhibit opens with the Award Ceremony on October 13 and Crafts and Hobbies as well as Home Canning Contests begin. The Team Roping is held in the Team Roping Area; Clown Face Contest in the Entertainment Hall; and the Junior Creative and Culinary Arts Department contests begin.
October 11 is the official opening day of the Fair. Along with the animal judging, Little Mr. and Miss Contest, Mutton Bustin, 4H and FFA Calf Scramble, and Fair Mom Contest will be held. The Pet Parade is October 14 and the Scarecrow Contest is October 15.
Senior Citizens Day and Hometown Heroes Day are on October 15 with Special Children’s Day October 16.
The Brazoria County Fair Parade is planned for October 12 at 10 am in Downtown Angleton. The Fair Queen will also be announced that day.
Entertainers this year include Steve Wariner and Josh Ward on Oct. 11; Travis Tritt, Wayne Toups and Shayne Still & The Southern Blend Band on October 12; Los Traileros Del Norte on October 18; Koe Wetzel, Doug Stone and Cole Degges on October 19.

The Brazoria County Fair Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities and scholarships to the youth of Brazoria County. The Fair, which was held for the first time in 1910, is now a 9-day annual event that takes place in October each year.
BCFA conducts several events throughout the year including the annual Science Fair in February, Game, Farm & Ranch Expo in April, Youth Summer Series Rodeo in June, Spike & Spurs Golf Classic in August, Annual Kick-off dinner and dance is September and the Fair in October.
