A huge variety of plants will be offered at the Fall 2019 Plant Sale by Galveston County Master Gardeners Saturday, October 12 at Jack Brooks Park (Galveston County Fairgrounds) on Highway 6 in Hitchcock.
Citrus trees, fruit trees, vegetables, herbs, bulbs and perennials in all sizes and colors are part of the sale this Fall.
At 8 am an educational seminar of the plant sale overview will be held at Pickett Hall, beside the arena area where the sale is located. Those attending can see photos of plants on sale to help determine what they want to purchase.
The sale begins at 9 am and continues until 1 pm.
Master Gardeners will be throughout the arena floor answering questions about the plants and trees and helping buyers locate items.
Garden crafts will also be sold.
Galveston County is in the 9a, 9b planting zones and all plants sold are ones that grow well in zone 9. Many of the plants, such as bulbs, are rare and collectible, and are not offered anywhere else in the county.
Wagons are available at the sale to haul purchases and Master Gardeners will load all purchases into buyers’ cars to help them. Due to the popularity of the sale, wagons are in limited amounts and anyone who has their own wagon is encouraged to bring it for their own convenience.
