The holidays officially kick off Dec. 3 in Friendswood with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.
“Santa will be there for the kids to say hello and take pictures and we’ll have wassail,” said Dave Smith of the Historical Society. “Then we’ll light up the tree and get started with our holiday season.”
The tree lighting is held the first Tuesday in December every year. The annual Friendswood Christmas parade has been scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14 and the 12th annual Santa in the Park will begin at 3 p.m. at Stevenson Park, 910 S. Friendswood Dr.
Organized by the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce, the “Home for the Holidays” lighted parade begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 14 near Dunn Brothers Coffee on Heritage Drive, ending at Stevenson Park.
Sponsored by HomeTown Bank, the annual holiday festival includes 40,000 pounds of artificial snow, amusement rides, live music and entertainment plus food and craft vendors. A fireworks show tops things off at about 8 p.m.
Wristbands for amusement rides are $10 each and booths and sponsors for the event are signing up now. For information, call the Parks and Recreation Department, 281-996-3220 or email [email protected].
