VFW Post 7109 in Pearland is asking for the community to assist a family in need.
A Vietnam veteran and his wife’s home in Brookside flooded after Tropical Storm Beta and help is needed to restore their home.

They were still trying to recover from Hurricane Harvey after a contractor took advantage of them, the VFW reports. Unfortunately, they do not have friends or family to help.

Several issues were found after Veterans for Christ Initiative (V4CI) evaluated their home. They discovered many hidden problems like some rotten framing, rotting baseboards, mold throughout the home, loose walls, tripping hazards and debris outside making it unsafe for this couple.

VFW Post 7109 has determined several ways the community can help.

Community members can volunteer to help with yard clean up, removing debris, organizing, painting, etc.

Lunch can be provided for all of the volunteers to keep them fueled for the day.

Gift cards can be donated  to Lowe’s, Home Depot, Walmart, or other local  businesses and in amounts of any value. Drop them off at the VFW Hall at 4202 W. Walnut in Pearland.

Building materials can be donated such as 2×4’s, sheet rock, mud, insulation, etc.

Monetary donations can be made via GoFundMe. Every single $1 donation helps to make this Veteran’s home safe. Donate at  http://gf.me/u/y27pt7

From the Amazon Wish List, donate one of the “finishing touches” to help at https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1LGU360VSPIAB?ref_=wl_share&fbclid=IwAR1-Kk_FIKSfPkI-v2mu8yDvudonQEd4YHfU3UaSkZ76t194zwzoDhAPZiM. (The VFW Facebook page has a direct link to this.

The community can help spread the word. Follow VFW Post 7109 on Facebook for updates and photos.
