Visions of sugar plums and holiday shopping may be months away, but the Pearland Neighborhood Center is in full gear for the 2013 holiday season as it prepares to help needy families.
Registration for assistance with gifts and holiday dinner begins Nov. 1, and families applying must live in the Pearland area and make an appointment at PNC to qualify. All services are income-based.
The Pearland Neighborhood is also participating in the largest area holiday food drive on Dec. 6 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. PNC will be a drop off site for the Channel 13 Share Your Holidays Drive. Volunteers also will be available for pick-ups. The most needed items are pasta, macaroni and cheese, stuffing, boxed potatoes, cereal, rice, dry beans, sugar, flour, cake mixes and dessert items. Also among most needed items are hygiene supplies, diapers size 4, 5 and 6, baby wipes, wrapping paper, bows, tape, new blankets, jackets and sweaters.
Volunteers are also needed this season. Applications may be picked up at Pearland Neighborhood Center.
