Food drive set through end of month

In Friendswood, News by Reporter News

Friendswood city offices are a drop-off point for a Galveston County Food Drive that continues through the end of the month.

Proceeds of the drive go to the Galveston County Food Bank. Until the end of the month, local residents can drop off donations at City Hall, 910 S. Friendswood Dr. The most needed items include non-perishable foods, personal hygiene items, kid-friendly foods and household cleaners.

“Many of us in Friendswood are blessed, but there are many Galveston County residents who are not as fortunate,” Mayor Kevin Holland states. “We appreciate this opportunity to participate in the food and fundraising drive and raise support for the Galveston County Food Bank.”

The food bank needs financial donations, as well. For every $1 donated, the bank can provide enough food for four meals. To donate, visit or mail a check (payable to the “Galveston County Food Bank”) to 624 4th Avenue North, Texas City, TX 77590.
