Friendswood City Councilman Carl Gustafson secured the position of Galveston County Republican Chair in the March 1st primary.

Gustafson, incumbent appointed to fill an unexpired term, defeated challenger Marie Robb. He is running for reelection to city council in Friendswood in May.

Jerry Fisher garnered more than 58 percent of the vote for Constable in Pct. 4.

Former JP Darrell A. Apffel and League City Mayor Tim Paulissen will go to a May runoff election for the nomination as Galveston County Commissioner Precinct 1, which includes Kemah, Texas City and Clear Lake Shores.

Republican Congressman Randy Weber won the nomination for another term in District 14 with more than 90 percent of the vote over Keith Casey. He faces democrat Michael Cole in November.

District 11 State Sen. Larry Taylor was unopposed, as was State Rep. Greg Bonnen in District 24.

There were no contested Democrat races in Galveston County.
