The Shadow Creek Sharks took charge early and put Summer Creek out of the post-season 61-47 to advance to the Class 6A Region III quarterfinals.
The Sharks opened up the game with a 12-7 first quarter as Cameron Amboree hit a basket and a 3-pointer to pace the offense.
The second quarter belonged to the Sharks 11-5 for a 23-12 lead at intermission.
The Sharks got two 3-pointers while Chase Cain hit a pair of jumpers.
Both offenses increased their intensity beginning in the third quarter.
Summer Creek’s Jaylon Johnson turned on his game with three 3-pointers and 3-of-4 from the free throw line to score 12 of his team’s 17 points.
Shadow Creek had a more balanced scoring attack as five Sharks got in the scoring column led by Amboree (5 points) and Lucious Jackson (5 points) to outscore the Bulldogs 18-17 for a 41-29 advantage heading to the final quarter.
Once again, it was an offensive show as Johnson hit three more 3-pointers while three other Bulldogs fired in 3-pointers for a total of six in the quarter.
Shadow Creek countered with Cain and Shawn Jones who hit three baskets each while Amboree knocked down 4-of-5 free throws and a jumper for 20 points to get the 61-47 playoff win.
Amboree led the Sharks offense with 19 points while Cain tossed in 10 and Jones hit 10.
Johnson led Summer Creek with 23 points.
