Riassetto, Lady Mustangs blank Manvel 10-0

Senior ace pitcher Chloe Riassetto tossed a complete game shutout to give the Friendswood Lady Mustangs a 10-0 win over the Manvel Lady Mavericks.

The southpaw limited the Lady Mavs to only five singles, no walks with five strikeouts. Riassetto helped her own cause going 2-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs that included a three-run home run over the right-center field fence to give her team a 7-0 lead.

Friendswood jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. With two-outs, Bella Halata reach first base after getting hit by a pitch and advanced to second on an errant pickoff attempt. Leadoff hitter Baileigh Burtis and Chloe Aldrich stroked back-to-back RBI singles for the Lady Mustangs.

The Lady ‘Stangs added five more runs in the top of the fourth as Halata and Burtis singled and Aldrich was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Manvel committed an error on a grounder to the shortstop that allowed two runs. That set up the three-run blast by Riassetto for the 7-0 advantage.

The Lady Mustangs score a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to increase the lead to 9-0.

Madelyn Wilson led off the frame with a single, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Halata who moved to third on a bunt by Burtis, Halata scored on a sacrifice RBI fly by Aldrich.

The top of the seventh saw Burtis blast a solo home run to left field to post the 10-0 final score.

Burtis was 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored, two RBIs, including the roundtripper while Halata was 2-for-3 with three runs.

Friendswood is now 7-0 in the District 22-5A standings.
